Country homes are the most common style of French architecture in use today. Resembling French farmhouses and manors both, French country homes differ in their tendency for off-center doorways and asymmetrical facades. Other defining features include extensive porches supported by slender columns under the main roof line and steeply pitched, hipped roofs built on high masonry foundations.
