French provincial architecture is decidedly formal. It is square and symmetrical with balanced window placement. The resulting symmetrical façade and centered entry are two common characteristics of the style. Likewise, exterior wrought iron and a radius top on the front door often lend themselves well to the established aesthetic. Homes built with this French architectural style in mind typically have no tower or turret. Rather, they tend to draw inspiration from small manor homes, sporting steep hip roofs, curved headers on the upper windows, and wings on the sides of the main block.
